The baby-soft delicate sheep skin brought up in Ethiopia is a gift from this land’s mother earth.

andu amet is an innovative luxurious brand which uses exclusive prized leather from　Ethiopia. Our unique designs are inspired by both the radiant colors of Ethiopian artwork　and the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship. Every stich is handmade by our expert artisans　in Ethiopia. By caring about the social and environmental impact throughout the crafting　process of our beautiful artwork, andu amet offers a new and modern kind of luxury.

Message from our CEO

I’ve always felt that bags are one of the few items that you carry around anywhere you go, whether it be going to work, meeting a friend for dinner, or shopping on the weekend. So when I first launched andu amet, I wanted to create something that would be relaxing and comforting for everyone because an item that is so close to our everyday lives ought to be “like a long time partner”.
andu amet ‘s unique collections inspired by both Japanese and African beauties are carefully brought to life by our skilled craftsmen by using only the best sheep-skin leather from　Ethiopia. All of the creation process from designing, buying materials, hand making, and distributing are planned out carefully so that we can deliver the best to our customers. We have confidence that our customers will be satisfied from the moment they embrace our collections.

Hiroko’s profile

Born in Tokyo. Hiroko first started her career as a designer for a well-known company in Japan, but as she pursued her job, she started questioning the throwaway culture in Japan and decided to take a volunteering role in Africa in 2002 to search for a different way of living. Hiroko’s activities in Africa include organizing a fashion show in Ethiopia and launching a fair trade project in Ghana. After returning to Tokyo, Hiroko takes a marketing role in an international luxury brand and in 2012 finally establishes her own brand, andu amet. andu amet is an innovative luxurious leather brand which only uses exclusive prized leather from　Ethiopia. In 2015, the brand marked itself as the 3rd Japanese company to establish a branch in Ethiopia. Hiroko currently travels between the two countries to run the business.
